Familiar yet mysterious, clear yet somewhat surprising – the new OMBRA wall concept by Villeroy & Boch Tiles plays with these seeming contrasts. The extraordinary design combines two current trend themes, ‘Industrial Style’ and ‘Natural Living’, and adds a soft concrete look and fine lines with an understated, floral pattern.
The concept includes 30 x 90-cm basic tiles and two décor nonvitreous tiles, all in the two colours of white and grey. The smooth, matt finish of the basic tiles has a delicate and gently cloudy air. Narrow lines characterise the design of both décor variants – one monochrome and the other with a design reminiscent of the shadows of delicate leaves. The three-dimensional slatted relief with a hand-crafted feel emerges is particularly impressive on the surface of both versions, casting new shadows and interesting plays of light. The graphic floral pattern comes more or less to the fore, depending on the incident light and the angle at which it is viewed. Excerpts of the décor become visible when viewed from close up, but a beholder who steps further away from the surface can view the image in its entirety. The décors can be used either individually or in combination. OMBRA can be installed both horizontally and vertically, depending on the desired design and the spatial situation involved.
With bright colours and filigree décors, OMBRA creates an ambience full of lightness and clarity. Particularly in the bathroom, at home or in a hotel, or in sauna and wellness areas, OMBRA emanates an upbeat mood that is conducive to well-being. But the basic and décor tiles also create an appealing, friendly atmosphere in sleeping and living areas, and in restaurants, lobbies or boutiques as well.
