Metal and concrete characterise contemporary architecture in a special way. They not only feature in the design of fronts and exterior views of modern buildings, but these materials are also used in interiors, where they create rooms with extravagant, purist atmospheres. The METALYN range by Villeroy & Boch Tiles adapts the effects of these two typical materials to create a look that is new to ceramics: the design interprets a symbiosis of urban concrete and machined metal plates.
The idea behind the METALYN concept relies on design and clarity. The basic tiles made of vilbostone porcelain stoneware come in the six harmoniously coordinated colours of silver, pearl, bronze, iron, steel and oxide. They can be used to create tiled surfaces that are expressive and calm at the same time. Thanks to the anodised look of the finishes, the result is a beautiful and softly metallic covering for the wall and floor – monochrome or in individual colour combinations.
The selection of formats with R10 slip resistance is impressive, too: All of the basic tiles are available in formats of 30 x 60 cm, 60 x 60 cm, 80 x 80 cm and 60 x 120 cm. METALYN is also offered in the two 6-mm-thick OPTIMA formats of 120 x 120 cm and 120 x 260 cm; these formats can be used to create attractive ceramic surfaces with very few joints.
A special highlight is the multicoloured décor tile made of glazed porcelain stoneware to match all the colours. It permits exclusive wall designs but can be used on the floor as well. Available in formats of 30 x 120 cm and 60 x 120 cm, this décor can be laid as a strip, as an accent or for full-surface installation. The sophisticated geometric pattern of fine, rust-coloured diamonds and cubes creates a surprising trompe-l'oeil effect that presents each viewer with different and ever-new, three-dimensional shapes, depending on the incidence of light, the point of view and the mood. A slightly ‘used’ look adds to the special appeal of the décor.
Further décor options include a 30 x 60-cm cut décor with a linear striped structure, available in all six colours. There are also 7.5 x 7.5-cm mosaics in all colours that are bonded to mesh in a format of 30 x 30 cm and can be used for floor-flush showers, not to mention strip skirting in a 7.5 x 60-cm format.
METALYN is a sophisticated tile concept that enables diverse, individual designs in the top-end private and commercial sectors. Whether in the bathroom and kitchen, in the hall or throughout the living area, whether in a hotel bathroom, lobby, restaurant, boutique or shop – with its high-quality, enduring design and high slip resistance, wherever it is used, the METALYN range meets the highest in aesthetic and functional expectations.
